I’ve been seeing Val for a little over a year, and she has had an incredible impact on my life. I felt comfortable talking to her from my very first appointment. Val is understanding, empathetic, and open in a way that makes difficult subjects easier to talk about. I have no doubt that she is always in my corner. She doesn’t tell me what I want to hear, she tells me what I need to hear in a way that’s reassuring and supportive - even when I don’t want to hear it. She’s gentle but direct, and doesn’t just let things slide. She approaches the topics I avoid in a way that doesn’t make me defensive or feel ashamed. She challenges me to grow with hard questions that lead to small but impactful changes. And the resources! I’ve never had a therapist before who recommended or provided books, articles, videos, sites, and ideas the way she does. I don’t always utilize those resources (sorry Val!), but she still makes sure I know those resources are available.
