I made my first appointment with Thriveworks over the phone and requested the free trial, gave my insurance information to the receptionist (who was very nice and helpful), and then went to my appointment a bit later. After a few appointments, I was notified by my credit card that there was a charge of several hundred dollars from Thriveworks. They had billed me directly (without warning) without going through my insurance. I called them, gave my insurance information over the phone, and was told I'd get a refund once they processed it. Another appointment later, there was another $100+ charge to my credit card, again with no warning. I called again, and gave my insurance information again. This time I received an email a week later (after calling again to follow up) which I sent my insurance information, after which they finally refunded me of all the charges (aside from the copays) and set up my insurance. I called after my last appointment to cancel my membership; a month later, I got a notification from my credit card that I'd been charged for the membership that I'd cancelled. I called again (today) and was promised a refund, and I'm sure I'll get it eventually. In the end everything worked out, but working with Thriveworks was a real headache. I don't normally leave bad reviews (or any reviews) for this sort of thing, but my experience was so frustrating that I felt obligated to share it.

I've seen Thomas Michler only 2 times now, but so far he is much more understanding and easier to talk to than the psychiatrist I was seeing for months. We've already discussed things for me to get in the habit of doing like writing down when I'm doing something we've specifically spoken about, tracking when I do something to see if there's a pattern, etc.. I'm actually about to schedule another appointment with him!
