I'm editing my review. Today is Monday, November 17, 2025 and I'm in my worst depression. I haven't been this bad since I was 13 years old. I'm 47. You can read below my memory and auditory difficulties I mentioned to Dr. Castillo. I barely remembered my appointments with her even with numerous reminders on my Alexa, my phone, and setting alarms. I have difficulty with reading comprehension and it's going to be very hard for me to try and find a psychiatrist. It's been 2 weeks since Dr. Castillo dropped me without any advance notice or discussion that she planned on dropping me. I can barely get the strength to get out of bed let alone try and find a new psychiatrist. I'm left alone when I need help the most. Please avoid this psychiatrist at all costs. Original review below. I am leaving this review under the Tampa office, as I had difficulty finding the correct listing for the Orlando office, where Nurse Practitioner Dr. Castillo practices at Psych Me Health Services. I was a patient of Dr. Castillo’s for about five months. I originally chose her because she was one of the few providers who said she helps patients safely taper off Xanax, something many psychiatrists and nurse practitioners refuse to do. From the very beginning, I was open with her about my background and challenges. I explained that I have major depressive disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, borderline personality disorder, and an auditory processing disorder, which makes it difficult for me to process spoken information. I also shared that I have short-term memory loss from being prescribed Xanax for 26 years and that it has been extremely hard for me to trust mental health providers after decades of being misdiagnosed and overmedicated. Despite this, I recently received a formal “Notification of Dismissal from Practice Due to Non-Compliance” from her office. The letter stated that I was being dismissed due to “failure to follow the treatment plan and/or medical advice,” which is completely inaccurate. I followed all recommendations given to me and communicated consistently about my struggles and progress. I did not fail to comply—I was actively trying to heal and understand. I reached out and asked Dr. Castillo to please give me a few months because I was finally beginning to trust again. I even explained that it’s like someone who has been in an abusive relationship—it takes time to rebuild trust after years of trauma. Unfortunately, that made no difference. She showed no compassion or understanding, and instead, I received a standard dismissal letter at a time when I needed support the most. Adding to my disappointment, when I asked about supplements for depression, I was told to ask my primary care physician—even though this falls directly within her expertise as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. I also provided my GeneSight test results, which could have guided safer medication options, but she never reviewed or discussed them with me. In my experience, Dr. Castillo lacks empathy, compassion, and understanding for patients with complex mental health conditions. She pretended to want to help, but when I was most vulnerable, she dropped me. If you live with disabilities or trauma-related trust issues, please avoid this provider—you deserve care from someone who truly listens and shows heart.
