**AVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID!!** FIRST, if your reading reviews PLEASE take note that almost all of the 5 star reviews are for Nurse Practitioners or therapists. They are generally NOT positive reviews for the doctor Anika Wilson, and for good reason. The entire experience with her was profoundly cold, uncaring, dismissive, and rude. She was not welcoming at all. At one point during her questioning, and I say "questioning" because there was little to no listening involved, she asked, "why are you just now bringing 'my kid' in?" I was pretty emotional and replied, "I don't want my baby to be on medication." She immediately looked at me and very condescendingly said, "You know that's what I do, right?" I was shocked at her complete lack of empathy. In addition to all of that, once during the appointment she referred to us as "You people". As I'm proofreading before posting, that may not sound as discriminatory as it actually was. Within 15 minutes we were told that our early elementary age child had a serious mood disorder and was prescribed a medication indicated for epilepsy. The medication is used OFF LABEL as a mood stabilizer for adults, but even when used as a mood stabilizer there is limited evidence that it is effective and is usually used only after other medications have proven ineffective. I asked about the diagnosis we were given and if a different diagnosis (ADHD) or ACTUAL TESTING would be more appropriate. I was immediately told, "No, we'll take care of this first, and then think about that later if it's necessary." Then she stood up and basically dismissed us. We decided before we even made it to the car that we would not be returning under any circumstances.
