Lori Calabrese MD, Metabolic Psychiatry and Ketamine Treatment at Innovative Psychiatry

Having suffered from medication resistant Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety and PTSD for most of my life. I found unbelievable life changing results from Dr. Calabrese through Ketamine infusions. The only way I can explain the results of Ketamine is to make the comparison to the movie The Wizard of Oz. In the beginning everything is dark, gloomy and depressing. Immediately after my Ketamine treatment it’s like after the door is open to OZ everything bright, clear and happy. In a day, I cared about things I hadn’t, wanted to do things again and had energy and focus. I can’t thank Dr. Calabrese enough. She was kind, very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. Her staff was patient and friendly. Her facility was immaculately clean and welcoming.

In 2022 I was in a very dark place and had recently been diagnosed with C-PTSD as well as PTSD when my therapist recommended looking into IV Ketamine Treatments. After some google researching I found Dr Lori Calabrese and made an appointment. Dr Calabrese asked me interesting questions that I felt most psychiatrists never asked me. Things like “when did you last feel like your best self?” Or “what are you hoping to get out of these treatments?”. These questions really had me thinking, and I didn’t realize I hadn’t felt like my best self since I was 16-17 years old (I was 23 at the time of the treatments). I told her I wanted to feel the strength to leave an abusive relationship for good and not look back. After speaking with her for a little over an hour at my first appointment, they started the first infusion. I did the initial 6 sessions over the next month. The difference was night and day. I felt like my brain had been a dried up sponge and they poured water all over it. 2 weeks after the 6th infusion, I did gain the courage to leave that abusive relationship and have not looked back since. I feel like I can function as a mostly normal human now, and cope with life in a healthier way. Now, I go for a booster session about once a year, maybe a little earlier depending on how my life has been, and that seems to work pretty well for me for majority of the year until I feel I need to go again. I don’t take any psychiatric medications, drink alcohol, or smoke anymore. I feel I’ve done a complete 180 with my life, and am grateful to have found something that works well for me. I have nothing but positive things to say about these treatments. The science behind how this medicine works is incredible and fascinating, and I feel so grateful to have been able to have experience this type of medicine. It is the future of mental health treatment. I can truly say it saved my life in one way or another. The staff here are awesome as well. They’re empathetic, kind, and efficient. It can be very intimidating to experience, especially the first few times, but the staff here make you so comfortable. Again, nothing but positive things to say here. Thanks for everything.
