I had two sessions with this therapist and that was enough to determine that she was not a good fit for me. Lisa did not show up for my second appointment, which triggered my anxiety, something I was seeking treatment for. She also showed an overt amount of body language in my sessions, such as eye-rolling, which I felt further spiked my anxiety and put the attention of the session around my reactions to her body language rather than my reasons for being in therapy. The night before my (technically) third appointment, I received a very strange text from Lisa asking to let her know if I would be canceling, which I felt was very strange given the no-show to my second appointment. I was given a bag of coffee for my lost time, although I stated that I didn’t drink coffee when offered. Though I can understand her personal reasons behind having her cell phone with her in appointments, my entire first appointment she was off and on her phone which was very distracting to me and unfair to a client paying $150 to be there for an hour. I did not feel that my time was respected, I felt that my issues were not important to Lisa, which is a pretty sour taste to leave a therapy appointment with. I felt that I was being rushed out at the ends of my appointments. To top it all off, when I texted to cancel my next appointment, despite texting me previously, she asked who I was. At that point I knew, without a doubt, I made the right choice. I am grateful for the butterfly hug technique that I was given, as it gave me a taste of what it was once like to feel and experience as I did when I was a child. Overall I am grateful that I was shown so quickly that it was time for me to move on and I hope that this review helps others who are sensitive to distractions to better choose their therapist. We go to therapy for healing and I feel it is very important to hold that space, without judgment and without distraction, and I expect that from professional therapists who are trained in walking with people through some of life’s toughest traumas and tribulations. I did not find that here.
