I was in a crisis back in November of 2025 and advised my provider, Jessica Igbalajobi, at one of our appointments. She suggested that I should go on leave, but that is all I remember from the appointment, since I was sleep-deprived. I sent her the paperwork for my short-term disability, and she said that FMLA is only for two weeks. I said that I have benefits that would cover me for 12 weeks. I advised that the paperwork has a return-to-work date of 1 month, but she wanted me to rush back to work despite my saying I am not mentally ready. We met on the 20th, and she said she no longer wants to treat me and wants to refer me to a colleague for a "second opinion." When I asked why, I was advised it was because she did not like the pushback I was giving about the level of care I was receiving. I have contacted Lifestance to speak with a manager about my situation and never received a call back. If you are going through any mental health crisis, Lifestance is not the place to go.

If I was only rating my child’s therapist, I would say I wish I could give 10 stars. Unfortunately we can’t have the amazing therapist without the woefully incompetent billing department. We’re paying out of pocket for insurance reasons and the rate we pay is based on a couple of factors, but is by no means unique to us. Apparently there’s no way to set that rate in the system, because despite going over this with the billing department many times before, it always has to be adjusted manually after a lot of back and forth with the them (they always tell me I’m wrong a couple of times first before someone says, “oh, huh, you’re right”), which doesn’t make much sense if your providers have different rates. I have been overcharged hundreds of dollars worth of a supposedly outstanding balance without warning, had money returned only after multiple calls from me over a period of days or weeks, overcharged again a month later, had the money I told LifeStance to refund instead credited to my account, and then used as credits for sessions, again at the wrong rate. I’m frustrated by the apathy of the department, who reply to my inquiries through the patient portal in single-sentence messages that just tell me that the amount is right and I am wrong, but seem able to find the information I’m asking for when I get someone on the phone. I’ve asked for full documentation of our payment history only to receive a record that doesn’t reflect any of the incorrect charges or returns (or failures to return), which is extremely sketchy. I no longer have any confidence in LifeStance’s ability to manage my payment information responsibly or record my payment history accurately. It has yet to do either of those things with any consistency in the year and a half that we’ve been here. It’s the reason I’m no longer a patient, and the only reason we’re still dealing with LifeStance at all is because my child has a good therapy relationship with their therapist. If you must deal with this place in order to get care, don’t let them save your payment information unless you have $300-$400 extra to spare for them to yank out of your account without warning and then drag their feet or ignore your answer when they ask how you want it returned. I certainly don’t. If my child’s therapist ever leaves the practice, you can bet we’re out the door.
