I started working with one of their therapists last year, and after giving him my background in substance abuse, as he was a substance abuse specialist, he said at one point in our conversation "I'm not your friend" and was very unfriendly with me every appointment we had. I would often greet him with a smile and ask him how he was doing and he would respond with a neutral face and barely respond to me. He often made me feel like I was bothering him and wasting his time every time I met with him. Even when I would share about about certain trauma I had recently gone through in my life from someone who acted as as a narcissist and bullied me, he then turned it on me and told me I was just as narcissistic as the person who bullied me. I don't understand how this is therapy. I was also advised to move into a certain sober-living house by my therapist. Before I fully committed to moving into sober-living, he called me one day and told me that the house he wanted me to move into had one more bed available so I'd better decide ASAP on moving in. Sure enough, I move in just to find out they had more than 4 more beds out of 6 available. Just to make matters worse, the sober-living house he recommended was a joke and didn't abide by any standard of "sober-living". The house manager claimed they would randomly drug test but never did it so most people in the house continued to use. I lived there for 9 months, which ended up being a horrible experience. I can't speak worse of my "therapist" at FigTree. Out of respect, I will keep his name anonymous, but it's sad to me that this is what Christian therapy has to offer in the Richmond area.

This is my very honest review on fig tree therapy. Booking with them was always a breeze, I never really had any kind of mishaps or anything I needed to worry about in regards to my appointments. I ended up choosing to meet with Bo, and I can say that this was probably one of the best investments I ever made in my mental health. As a woman, I knew that I wanted to learn how to be a little bit more logical in my walk with Christ and in regards to dealing with my emotions. Bo would give me homework, he would back up everything he was suggesting with scripture. And on top of that, he created a safe environment for me always. Even during our virtual visits. He gave me the courage to go find a church, and he was constantly pushing me towards Christ. As someone who has seen probably close to 10 different therapists in her life, Bo was truly the first one to help me navigate through tough situations. Make sure that I feel heard, understood and lastly, that I was able to get on with my life. After my sessions with him, I would constantly encourage people to get into Christian therapy. I’ve actually recommended this place for people as well. Thank you Bo, for always being great.
