Fantastic organization. If you intend on fostering, FCSA is the organization to do it through. Firstly, we were notified of the process and all expectations so we weren’t blindsided by anything as the State of Alaska does the background checks (my wife is from Texas so the process took a bit longer). You’ll have a case manager, and our experience has been, they are very supportive. They’ll explain the difference between TFHG and community-based foster care (in case you wanted to consider one over the other). We’ve honestly never had a bad experience working with the agency; my wife and I have worked with the agency for about 3-4 years now. Everyone from the case managers to the clinicians are all very nice and supportive. The reimbursements are more than fair and the homes they provide are amazing. As long as you’re willing to accept feedback, treat the children well with care, and stay on top of documentation responsibilities, you’ll do fine at the agency. My wife and I don’t see ourselves going anywhere anytime soon. :).

Jessica Varn and Suszan try to set up meetings behind the legal guardians back with other adults in the family who have zero legal say so and will refuse any contact that demands an explanation as to why a secret meeting was being set up without the legal guardians. This happened after I went to them begging for help for help for My child who is too young for inpatient, instead of giving me resources Jessica Varn who is my child’s new therapist yet has never met with her nor does she know anything about my child, reported me (to who idk) after coming to her asking for help, and then sat there and told me to destroy evidence and then asked if I wanted my daughter charged, she then left me in the upstairs for almost an hour after kicking me out of her office and then I had to wonder my way down to the main lobby but not before I ended up locked in an entry way and a child happened to notice me and I had them get an adults attention just to sit in the lobby for 2 hours while I was being told someone was coming down to talk with me, which never happened. the next day my suicidal child ran away from school. I had to call the troopers and report her missing. This was a school they forced her into without the appropriate number of supports. The school hadn’t even read my daughter IEP and still barely knows anything about her and cannot keep her safe. There is zero communication and if they do communicate they disregard any question you have that they don’t feel like answering like “why was there a secret letting being orchestrated with out me after I came to them asking for help, mind you I am my child’s only legal guardian. In fact Suszan tried to email me this morning to “confirm” an appointment for today that hadn’t even been set. I refused to set an appointment until I get my question answered. So she is just trying to pretend that they haven’t done a single thing when in fact they’ve done everything wrong. This whole situation has left me stressed to the point of no sleep and no eating. I need a civil rights lawyer if anyone knows of anyone in the state.
