My son is working on his executive functioning skills with Kalen and he has made tremendous growth! The *best* part is his newfound confidence. He’s learned that he’s the one in control of his own success. Seeing his effort pay off makes him motivated to further his successes. Kalen has made this process fun and enjoyable and unlike so many other places we’ve tried, it almost seems easy. It's not just a lesson plan on what works for (insert label...) kids. He teaches to the individual, combining all kinds of things that can affect learning (learning styles, finding the right tools, figuring out what motivates, emotional IQ, managing stress, etc). My son is learning about his unique self, knowledge he can use for so many more things. He truly feels part of a collaborative process, it's not someone just telling him what to do. Kalen excels in this unique, collaborative approach. Some examples we have experienced with Kalen: Meetings do not plateau, they are always making progress on their goals. I'm never left wondering where they're at, it is always very clear and well communicated. It’s helped our relationship with our son. Struggles that occur are being solved with Kalen. We don't have the constant pestering at home like we used to. Kalen does what he says he's going to do and if we have additional issues, he is receptive and open to helping our son find a way to achieve his goals. He's consistent, we can depend on him. It's clear he practices what he teaches. I've seen improvement translate to other unexpected areas too i.e. communication skills (organizing/sequencing thoughts), improved relationships with teachers (starting to seek them out vs. avoiding them), etc. Between our kids, we have tried several tutors/coaches and Kalen has risen to the top. He is worth the investment. Lastly, our son looks forward to these sessions and is bummed out if he misses them, that is a totally different story than our experiences in the past. Now we just have to get Kalen to work with us parents, couldn't we all use this!

My son worked with Kalen through much of his Junior year. He was struggling with getting his schoolwork done and turned in, and with math and science concepts. Kalen was wonderful with him -- he really understands the struggles of ADD and how the mind works, and worked with our son to find an organizational approach that would work for him. His grades went up, which was great, but even more importantly, his confidence did as well. It was probably the first rewarding tutoring experience he has had. Thanks so much!
