I have been seeing Dr. Hartman, believe it or not, for WELL over 10 years. She is extremely well-versed in every aspect of psychiatry. She is also willing to try different medications that other psychiatrists have prescribed in order to see what will happen. I like her openness in this regard. I wouldn’t have been seeing her this long if I didn’t think she was an excellent psychiatrist. She has helped me a lot, even with talk therapy, although, obviously, that’s not a practice area for most psychiatrists nowadays. She is convinced I have Bipolar I disorder, which I am somewhat skeptical of, but I told her that if something works for me, I don’t care what the condition is called. In any event, if I do have bipolar disorder, it seems to be controlled. She is great in her own choices of medication for me. Plus, she is extremely smart, and I enjoy talking to her once in a while about opera, or even politics. I am a retired attorney, and I have a major interest in, believe it or not, meteorology, plus politics, and she is willing to get into both of those subjects once in a while as a break from discussing medication. She is somewhat guarded in regard to her personal life, but who wouldn’t be, being a psychiatrist? She has shared some interesting family history with me. Bottom line is can’t say enough positive things about her. I’ve been seeing her for so long that I’ve gotten quite a bit older along with her, so I hope she does not retire soon!
