Even just having my first meeting with Loise Wameithi I connected with her instantly. She is an extraordinary psychiatrist and hears people who have a hard time explaining what they feel. I’ll recommend her and the practice any time it comes up in conversations now.

*Update* — my original situation has been resolved and corrected! My original review was a 1 Star and has since been addressed. The office manager stepped in and called to help correct everything that happened below. I can’t tell them how thankful I am that they took the time to get this resolved correctly so I didn’t have to restart the entire process! I’ll be continuing service with AwakeningsKC and since I’ve gotten to know them better throughout this process! The time and attention is greatly appreciated! ———— Original review/words* This isn’t directed at individuals within the organization, but I’ve had ongoing issues with Awakenings KC for years but stayed because psychiatric care is hard to access. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was the final straw. Their scheduling system and virtual appointment system clearly do not align, and patients are the ones who suffer for it. I had a virtual appointment scheduled for 1:30 PM that I paid for in advance. I joined at 1:34 PM and was later told their system showed the appointment as 1:15 PM. That discrepancy was never communicated to me let alone had I joined at the 1:30 PM mark, I still would’ve missed the appointment in their eyes. Despite this being an internal issue, I was told I missed the appointment and was almost charged a $50 no show fee. Luckily we rescheduled for 4:00 PM on another day, and I joined early to avoid another problem. This time the issue was ZOOM (see attached screen shots). I was once more told I missed the appointment and they’re still claiming that they’ll be attempting to charge the no show fee. Because of this, I’m now left scrambling to get a prescription refill and will have to completely start over elsewhere, including going through the controlled substance process again. This is unacceptable! Psychiatric care should not operate this way, and patients should not be penalized for system failures that are outside of their control. I will be taking my care elsewhere and at this point I would advise anyone else to do the same.
