Disappointing and Dismissive Experience — Ageism Has No Place in Healthcare (I’m over 55) My experience with Dr. Nuela Umeh was extremely disappointing. From the start, the appointment felt disorganized and rushed. I had informed the office ahead of time that I could not type because of recent surgery on my right shoulder, which limited the movement of my hand. A friend kindly helped me complete the paperwork, and I emailed all of my information and medical history days in advance. Despite that, at the last minute, the staff realized I could not enter the patient portal, leaving me with only a few minutes to speak with Dr. Umeh. She asked the same questions repeatedly and seemed not to have reviewed any of the information I had provided. I felt completely unheard. When discussing my treatment plan, she said to me, “Due to your age…” and then asked, with a puzzled expression, “Are you going back to work?” This was not only inappropriate but also dismissive—especially considering that I had written clearly in my intake that my goal in seeking therapy was to return to the workforce. I said this more than once during the appointment, and I explained that after my recent shoulder surgery, I finally felt ready to start again. It seems Dr. Umeh did not hear that even once. She also decided not to continue the medication that had been helping me, without taking the time to contact my previous psychiatrist or therapist—professionals who had treated me for over a year with excellent results. Her decision felt abrupt and uninformed, made without understanding my full history. I left feeling dismissed, judged, and disrespected. The appointment felt like a psychiatric drive-thru rather than a genuine consultation. Her comments reflected prejudice about age and disability, which have no place in a mental-health setting. I cannot recommend Dr. Umeh to anyone seeking attentive or compassionate care. I intend to report this experience to my insurance provider. Every patient deserves to be treated with dignity, listened to, and taken seriously—regardless of age or physical limitations.

I am deeply offended by the sheer unprofessionalism of Nuela Umeh, not only are the staff abrupt, rude and difficult to understand at all times but the portal that the CEO and "Doctor" Nuela Umeh pushes so heavily doesn't work the vast majority of the time. This individual, this practice, cannot properly prescribe medication and will milk your insurance company as they're not a real doctor not are they a genuinely caring medical professional- Nuela Umeh is only interested in billing your insurance, controlling your life and demanding unreasonable actions. After 3 visits we accomplished nothing but her wasting my time as a patient and as a client. Nuela could not refill my medication, they could not help me and we're hyper focused on aspects of health that were not issues and only suggested medications that their pharmaceutical sponsors would push. Nuela Umeh is one of, if not the most unprofessional medical personnel I've ever had the dissatisfaction of dealing with. I'm currently reporting them to Florida Blue & Lucet (my insurance companies) as they billed $1200 for 3 small telehealth visits and ordered a metric ton of test that my primary care doctor advised against and that even my insurance company said; No, you don't need that and we're not paying for that. Please if you value your money, your time and your psychiatric well being them I implore all who read this review to take it to heart and look for a real medical care provider because Nuela Umeh is a glorified medical insurance con artist only interested in milking her patients insurance companies for every last red cent. If you want actual care then please, go anywhere else. Sincerely, An incredibly offended, deeply concerned former patient that doesn't want to see anyone else be hurt like I was.
